NJ and Trip Tidbits

It was a very long ride home today and for some reason the state of NJ and all it's wonderful traffic was the icing on our trip - and it was not tasty! Our 6 hour trip from VA took almost 9 hours. And we are both very patient people - hahahahaha.... But wait we did stop at Wegman's just outside DC and that was totally worth it! We love Wegmans!
So to inject some sarcasm into it we'll start with:
WONDERFUL drivers and rubber neckers - after a half hour going 20 mph and less we finally came upon the fender bender and a very minor one at that. So 10 miles of backup on 3 lanes for expressway - all I can say is HOW exciting! I mean hello ever see a busted up fender? Yes, that is all it was. NJ must be a boring state for it to attract all that attention.
Those TOLLS - we are going to add them up - I am guessing we blew $25 and $4.75 we had to pay in cash because they didn't label the lane right and the EZPass didn't work on THAT lane. There was the little box that tells you can GO, but it was not activated and the freaky lady wanted CASH. Yeah, whatever lady. That was so fun to dig for money in our NEATLY organized car. That is another story.
Cheap gas - this isn't sarcasm - it is way cheaper than NY gas, but they have this SMART rule that you can't pump your own. There were at least 4 pumpers at this station and I'm guessing they work full time and probably get benefits - so hmmm... how much money do the gas stations make - ALOT obviously to cover all that overhead. So we waited 20 minutes at the thruway rest stop for some guy to pump it. Plenty of time for both of us to run in to potty and for me to dwadle over choosing my favorite flavor of Honest Tea. SO back to the gas lines. There were 6 lanes to choose. We managed to choose the SHORT one - and it was the shortest in length, not in time. Then after the car in front of us was done the guy wouldn't move - I was super happy and CHEERY at this point. Not bitchy at all - me - never. Did I mention it rained all the way home? Ugh... So the gas pump dude asked him to move and he said he couldn't because he was waiting for his friend to bring out his BK lunch. The gas pump guy solved this by having us go around him and use the next pump up. Thank goodness because the BK driver dude didn't come out for another 3 minutes. Pretty sure he was from NJ and was toting something scary with those dark tinted windows.
Oh and Ms. Garmin - she loves to find the shortest route and going through DC this was interesting. Ended up down on Pennslyvania Ave looping around some weird ways - SHORT? Hmmm... Maybe? Interesting - YES.
Obviously my favorite driver didn't win nor did Mark's. Just feeling a bit snarky tonight - good word by the way Andrea - from all that time in the car. We did really like Richmond - cool city. I even got to do some shopping in some cool stores. Shocker at a race weekend for me. Kind of doubt we'll go there for a race again -maybe a vacation stop over or something like that.
